Day Care Director (this position is filled)
General Duties:
Is responsible for
planning and executing classroom activities, assisting in the maintenance of
a safe, healthy, and stimulating classroom environment; provide constant
supervision of children at all times including, planning time, outside play,
meal time, and nap time.
Supervises and evaluates
all other day care staff.
Responsible for monitoring
and training of all child care providers, and volunteers; Also performs
annual reviews and progress reports.
Maintains sensitivity to
children’s individuality and responds to those needs appropriately and
quickly.
Supervises and assists
with meal/snack preparations and clean-up.
Maintains the highest
level of professionalism with clients and co-workers at all times.
Maintains direct, open and honest communication with the Board of Directors.
Performs other duties as
assigned.
College degree (or
nearing completion of the degree) in early childhood or related area; or
Child Development Associate plus three years of related experience.
Thorough knowledge of
child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
Possession of cognitive,
organizational, and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple
stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs.
Ability to communicate
effectively with adults/parents in all situations.
Working knowledge of day
care routines and policies.
Genuine interest and
enjoyment of small children/infants and the ability to stay calm in all
situations and to respond to children in a quiet, reassuring manner.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Maintain all records in computer files.
Ability to stand 60% of
the time, and the ability to lift children up to 35 lbs. 40% of the time.
Valid Maine driver’s
license.
CPR and First Aid
required to be completed within the first 2 months of employment.
Educational Activities:
Maintains knowledge,
skills, and abilities through ongoing education.
Attends a minimum of __training hours per registration year.
Completes all mandatory
review education as required and assigned.
Position:
Job is full-time; 40
hours per week.
Day care facility will be
open from 6:30 A.M. – 5:30 P.M., Monday – Friday, and director arranges
the coverage to have a minimum of two staff present at all times that are
appropriate to meeting state requirements.
Vacations require written approval at a minimal notice of two weeks.

Day Care Teacher (now accepting applications for part-time and full-time)
General Duties:
Will assistant in the
planning and executing classroom activities, help in the maintenance of a
safe, healthy, and stimulating classroom environment, and help to provide
constant supervision of children at all times including planning time,
outside play, meal time, and nap time.
Works cooperatively
with all other staff members.
Maintains
sensitivity to children’s individuality and responds to those needs
appropriately and quickly.
Familiarizes
themselves with the basic concepts of child development and developmentally
appropriate practices as established by the National Association
for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Maintains the highest
level of professionalism at all times.
Assists with meal/snack
preparation and clean-up.
Responsible to the child
care supervisor and director.
Performs the other duties
as assigned.
Education/Experience;
Skills/Abilities Requires:
High school
graduation or G.E.D. plus two years of experience in child care.
Basic knowledge of
day care routines and policies.
Ability to follow
instructions and learn new skills while on the job.
Possession of
cognitive, organizational, and emotional abilities to deal effectively with
multiple stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs.
Basic knowledge of
child development and age-appropriate expectations for young children.
Genuine interest
and enjoyment of small children/infants and the ability to stay calm in all
situations and to respond to children in a quiet, reassuring manner.
Ability to stand
60% of the time, and the ability to lift children up to 35 lbs. 40% of the
time.
Valid Maine
driver’s license.

Position requires flexibility in work schedule.
Day care facility will be
open from 6:30 A.M. - 5:30 P.M., Monday – Friday, will assist the supervisor
in arranging coverage to have a minimum of two staff present at all times
that are appropriate to meeting state requirements.

Hourly wage based on experience.
Substitute Teacher (always accepting applications for this position)
Responsibilities/Duties:
a. Change diapers/clothing as necessary; check diapers.
b. Rock, play with, sing to, play music for and show picture books to babies/toddlers.
Volunteer (always accepting applications for this position)
same as the Substitute Teacher; under the supervision of the Day Care Director.
